Glancing at my ringing phone, I sighed heavily silencing the call that was coming through. I already had Pitts’ number blocked, but since getting my new number he has not let up on contacting me. If it wasn’t phone calls, it was text messages nonstop. Putting a number on the block list wasn’t any help because he would simply get a new number and start the process all over again.

It was annoying and driving me crazy. I would’ve been at my mother’s house but knowing that he was infamous for popping up there, I was staying with Amare until I found a place of my own. Which had me putting my phone on do not disturb when he was around simply because I was trying to keep the peace. I didn’t care for Pitt but I didn’t want Amare doing something that can get him in a bunch of trouble over an ex that couldn’t get over me. So, I handled it the best way I could, and that was blocking him.

“Still calling you?” Sharita asked flipping through the appointment book. Right now all the customers were getting serviced and we didn’t have any one waiting. This was our only down time of the day mainly because people were at work.

  “Yup.”

  “Tell him to fuck off!”

  “Trust me I did.”

“Threaten to tell his wife,” Rita shrugged.

I rolled my eyes to the top of my head. “Please, as if that’s going to work? She came up here telling me to stay away from her husband and she’s pregnant.”

Sharita made a face. “Isn’t she like fifty? Do things down there still work?”

It made me burst out in laughter. “Yes, girl and she’s in her forties. But speaking of down there? When you gonna have someone knocking them cobwebs off? I haven’t seen you around no man since I’ve hired you.”

“Oh great, you getting good dick from Amare and now you’re concerned about my sex life?” she asked with a sly grin.

My face had to have been burning red from blushing. “Who said it was good dick?”

She waved her hand at me. “Bitch bye, your skin is glowing, you’re in your phone smiling all day and that ass is getting fatter,” she responded swatting me on my behind causing me to jump.

“Aye, watch ya hands! That belongs to me.”

We both followed the sound of Amare’s voice and I beamed watching him swagger through the door. He was the truth in every way. All the women in the shop couldn’t keep their eyes off him. There wasn’t a twinge of jealousy or annoyance in my body because he only had eyes for me and that was the best thing about it.

I didn’t get into his business but Amare was always on the go. The good thing about it is that he made time for me and I didn’t feel neglected. Even with knowing I was actively looking for a place to live, he made it clear that I didn’t have to go.

“I don’t want no problems,” Sharita laughed holding up her hands. Amare approached us and gave her a hug and pecked my lips before he made his way to my office.

All heads turned to watch him go, and just as he shut the door, my salon went in an uproar of women laughing and fanning themselves. The shop consists of older women, so they didn’t hold back when it came to seeing a good-looking man. That was pretty much the topic of discussion when they frequented.

“Oh, no I would like Corryn to do my nails,” I heard Ms. Margaret tell one of my employees. Breaking out of my trance over Amare, I went over to the table where she sat smiling at me.

We were all used to Ms. Margaret’s behavior. It was flattering that she liked my work but my employees all did a great job. I wouldn’t have hired them if their work ethic wasn’t just as good as mine. She got a basic manicure every week and tipped me generously. I think it was personal because the entire time I did her nails she talked my head off and continuously said I reminded her of someone.

Putting on gloves and an apron to protect my clothes, I sat down in the seat and finished up the process. This time she didn’t say much, until I began to paint her nails with the red polish she picked out.

“You speak about your mother all the time, Corryn, what about your father?”

“Um… I don’t know much about him honestly. My mother raised me with the help of my grandmother.”

I placed the red polish down and switched to her other hand to finish it off with our quick dry top coat.

“That was nice of her. They always say it takes a village to raise a child,” she responded.

Before I knew it, fifteen minutes passed after I’d done her nails, listening to her spiel about how much family was important. I appreciated talking to Ms. Margaret but this time she was going hard and I was starving by the time she left. The good thing about it is that she left a twenty-dollar tip which I gave to Veronica. I made so much money the tips weren’t for me.

I hurriedly went back to my office where I took in the sight of Amare lounged across my couch. He had his phone in his face, so he didn’t notice me. I allowed my eyes to travel down his body slowly to the Retros on his feet. I walked over, shutting the door and carefully laid my body on top of his; I felt like a child in his arms. My short body was nothing in comparison to his long athletic frame and build.

Taking his phone from out of his face, he pecked my forehead sending the butterflies to dance around in my stomach again. I thought by now they would stop but it feels like they always lived inside of me.

“I’m sorry about that. Ms. Margaret is picky and she always have the raps. I wish I would’ve known you were coming; I would’ve dodged her like a bullet.”

“Nah, this ya money. I wouldn’t have you stop working for me. You don’t seem too happy to see me though.” A crease formed between his thick brows.

“Trust me, I am. Me and every woman in here probably gotta ring out our draws,” I joked. “You can’t be walking up in here looking like that. I can’t go toe to toe with an old lady.”

“Yes you can,” he laughed. “If you want your man that bad you would.”

I got up off of him cutting my eyes his way. He leaned up and swung his legs off the couch and sat up before pulling me down onto him again.

“I’m fucking with you. All I wanted to do was treat you to lunch. I had some down time, so I figured it’d be nice to see you, feed you, get some pussy and finish handling business.”

He finally had a smile on his face with a lustful look in his eyes. I enjoyed seeing this side of him. He was always so serious and hard to read whereas he could tell me what I was thinking. As annoying as that was, it was also very attractive because it showed he paid close attention to me.

“You smell good,” I told him pressing a kiss on his lips. He moved from my lips, to my neck and the exposed skin from my v neck shirt on my chest.

  “You do as well,”
he mumbled slipping his hands between my legs and rubbing on my spot that got us caught up the very first time we were behind closed doors.

At work I wore tights, so it gave him easy access to touch and feel. I almost fell victim to him until I remembered we were in my office with a salon full of clients. The way we went at it, sex was definitely out of the question.

“I’m not messing around with you, Amare. Let’s go eat because I’m starving and you’re dropping me back off here.”

Amare delivered a few more kisses totally ignoring me before he tapped my thigh for me to get up. When he stood, my eyes followed his hand that adjusted that massive print that was impossible to hide even in jeans.

“Weren’t you the one sayig no to sex?” he teased and I smacked my lips as I walked over to my desk to retrieve my purse. He held the door open for me and grabbed a handful of my ass as I walked past him to the front.

Again, all eyes were on us as we made our way to the door.

“I’ll be back in an hour,” I informed Sharita who was cheesing her ass off. She really liked Amare for me so anything that had to do with him she was all for it. “Call me if you need anything.”

“No, I got you covered. You go ahead and have a good time.”

“It pays to be the boss,” Amare stated, as he placed his hand on the small of my back leading me out of the salon.

“I’m sure you know,” I shot back and he shrugged. I never heard him cursing people out like Pitt did or flexing his authority but you just knew Amare had it like that by the way everyone greeted him when they saw him. I loved that about him. He was powerful yet very humble.

“So is this why you’ve been ducking my phone calls?” My heart dropped to my stomach when I realized Pitt was walking our way with the nastiest scowl on his face. My mouth dropped and I looked up at Amare who looked pissed as well.

Fuck! This wasn’t going to end well!

Pitt glared at me and then softened his expression once his eyes landed on Amare who glanced at me with another expression I couldn’t read before crossing his hands over his chest.

“Yeah, so what’s good? If you have something you want to say to her say that shit now because this will be the last time you hear from her,” Amare told him.

“You believe that?” A smug grin spread across his face as he tilted his head to the side eyeing me. “I guess she ain’t tell you about her mother’s house.”

My stomach twisted at the story Pitt’s conniving ass was trying to paint. Amare ain’t respond. Still stood in place stoned faced. “Nothing happened at my mother's house.”

  “Does he know that?”

My mouth opened and then closed before I balled my fist up at my side.

“That’s crazy,” he continued. “I never took you to be the gold-digging type. I cut you off and you run to the next nigga with money.”

“Man, are you done bitching about a woman that don’t want you? She has her own money, so that ain’t what it’s about over here. You say you were at her people’s crib but you cut her off? Why you backtracking? Sounds like you the one who can’t let go.”

  “That’s what you think?”

“That’s what I know. She’s with me and been with me, correct?”

Pitt didn’t like his response because he knew it was true. I only hoped Amare believed it as well. Even though he was telling the truth it was mighty suspect that I didn’t tell him about my encounter with Pitt or the numerous phone calls.

“You feeling yaself lil’ nigga. First my connect and now my girl?! Fuck you want to be me?”

Amare chuckled shaking his head. “A failure? I’ve succeeded too long to have the desire to be in a losing position. Which one pisses you off more? That I’m younger, successful in all aspects, don’t have to buy respect or power, single handedly took over the game and got ya girl?”

Pitt pulled out his gun and pointed it in Amare’s direction making me gasp. His face was contorted in an ugly glare as his hands shook violently. He done lost his fucking mind because we were in a busy plaza with people all around with cameras rolling. I expected Amare to pull his out too, but he didn’t. He stood there like he was crazy.

“No! This doesn’t have to happen!” I jumped towards Pitt and Amare grabbed my wrist so tight and pulled me back.

“Go back in the salon! Now,” he said with finality.

“No,” I shot back with so much rage.

The look in his eyes was deadly and cold. Even though it scared me more than the gun in Pitt’s hand I wasn’t going anywhere.

  Pitt

I couldn’t believe it. Even with a gun pointed in his direction he didn’t flinch or show an ounce of fear. Instead, he stood there unbothered with his arms crossed with an annoyed face like I was wasting his time.

The fact that Corryn actually stood by his side ready to defend him had me hot. It was like in the short amount of time he was able to get in her head and have her wrapped around his finger. Shit, was it really a short time? Just like I had Yvette she could’ve always him.

That thought infuriated me. That man looked me in my face the entire time at that meeting and knew he was getting full access to my connect and had my girl.

The anger surging through my body had my hand shaking.

“You stood there for sixty seconds too long with that gun. Who the fuck is ya old heads? They ain’t ever tell you not to pull out a gun if you ain’t gonna use it?”

Amare stormed up to me and punched me so hard in my face, my body lifted up a few inches off the ground which caused me to fall on my ass. The gun that was in my hand was now on the ground laying next to my body. The spot he hit me ha It took me a few seconds to realize where I was and what happened until I heard Yvette’s voice.

“I knew it! Didn’t I tell you to stay away from my man, bitch!”

The slamming of a car door and Yvette’s big ass mouth had me scrambling to my feet like a drunk. I caught her around her waist just in time to stop her from approaching Corryn.

When I noticed she walked past me to go charge at Corryn, I grabbed her by her waist and she began to kick and scream.

“Get the hell off of me! I told that bitch to stay away from you!”

“I won’t be too many bitches! I never disrespected you, yet you’re mad at me. Blame ya husband for not holding you down. Even with you out he’s still calling and stalking me!” I heard Corryn yell out which only made Yvette go ballistic.

Dragging her back to her car while taking the few licks that got to me, I used one hand to open the door and stood her in between the door and the car using my body as a shield so she couldn’t get away.

She began to swing on me, connecting it to my face before I grabbed her wrist and squeezed tightly.

“Chill out with all of that!” I hissed. “You out here making a fucking scene!”

Tears were streaming down her pretty face now. Once she realized she couldn’t get out of my grasp she stood there and sobbed loudly.

“You were here for her! I’m pregnant with your first-born child and you’re out here chasing another woman! I look fucking crazy!” she cried.

“I ain’t chasing that fucking bitch!”

“Then why are you up here, Peter? WHY?!”

“I came to approach Amare! Someone told me he was up here, so I was trying to slide up on him. Don’t you want me to get rid of our problems?” I asked knowing I was lying my ass off. Eliminating Amare should’ve been my main concern but I came simply to plead my case with Corryn.

I missed her like crazy. She was the calm to my storm. I don’t know how I got caught up loving two women, but now that I got a taste of it and had the best of both worlds I wasn’t letting that shit go. Corryn was always going to be mine. I took her virginity which was rare for a female to have at the age of eighteen. Knowing I popped her cherry gave me a feeling of accomplishment knowing no man on earth ever felt the walls of my woman. So imagine how I felt seeing her with Amare. The man doing the dicking down always had the cont
rol and my point was officially proved not only by her ignoring my calls, but by her standing her ground next to him.

Finally, Yvette shut her ass up and just stared at me because I had a point.

“You can’t just keep running up on me while I’m fucking handling business. This street shit ain’t for you! You’re carrying my goddamn child. What kind of man would I be to have you next to me while I’m bussing my gun?!”

She smacked her lips. “Do you care that she’s with him?”

  “What? Fuck no.”

Yvette just eyed me. I had a feeling she didn’t believe me.

“You know how I am. If I’m coming for someone, I’m coming for everything they got and everyone they love. She sleeping with the enemy so she won’t be an issue soon. I don’t know why you’re even insecure.”

Pulling in a deep breath, Yvette shook her head as if she was debating with herself on saying something that’s been on her mind. Instead of expressing herself, she pushed me away and slid inside of the driver seat of her car.

Shutting the door behind her, I moved back and watched her drive off. Once she was gone I checked to see if Amare and Corryn were around, but they weren’t.

I was going to have to run into him again.

  Mar

The car ride was quiet to and from Longhorn Steak House. I had every intention of sitting down to eat so I can enjoy Corryn’s company, however right now I wasn’t feeling her.

The only reason why I still took her to go get some food was because I was a man of my word. Eating was out of the window for me. I wasn’t only pissed about Pitt’s bitch ass putting on a show, but what bothered me the most is that Corryn held back information from me. Trust was everything. As long as I’ve been out of touch with this relationship shit, I even knew certain shit you just don’t do.

Back in her plaza, the police were sitting around more than likely from Pitt making that emotional rookie move. He didn’t even dig it that he had a target on his back. Me knocking his ugly ass the fuck out wasn’t enough for me.

Despite the fact that I was pissed, I got out my car and walked around to her side to open up the door for her. Little things my father did for my mother stuck to me like glue. I knew how to treat a woman; I just didn’t want to waste the best part of me on the wrong woman. Currently, I was contemplating if fucking with Corryn was the wrong move.
